My paintings are my achievements and I adore them a lot,” says a renowned artist Ravindra Pagare.

A solo exhibition is being put up by Ravindra Pagare at Swaraj Vithika (Swaraj Art Gallery), Ravindra Bhavan premises. The exhibition began from Saturday and will continue till November 26.

Pagare is a fine artist who portrays the real life over the canvas. Giving his work a definite texture, the painter perfectly defines the expressions, emotions, feeling of joy, sorrow, loneliness, togetherness and much more. While talking to The Pioneer, Pagare said, “We divide art work, especially the canvas paintings in to two sections, one is Abstract which has no definite language and the other is realistic work which is taken from the real life.”

“I have displayed the figurative work. My paintings define the realistic form of art before the spectators,” he further added.

As many as 42 paintings are displayed at the gallery. Each painting has its own language that is enjoyed by art lovers of the city. Most of the paintings portrayed the women expressions. Wonderfully painted over the canvas, the artist added a charm and innocence over the facial expressions. A soothing treatment of colours smoothly painted over the canvas adds enchantment to his work.

While talking about his artwork, Pagare said, “Painting has been my hobby, a favourite one (he said laughingly) since childhood and it’s been almost 60 years when I began painting. I always loved to spread my thoughts over paper, canvas and wherever I could. It is fun for me.” Elaborating more about it, Pagare said, “I love to play with the colours, I not only do figurative, but I also try abstract form of art.” He used acrylic colours over the canvas giving them all a different texture. Use of vibrant colours like brown, blue, red, green and yellow showed the enthusiasm of life in the paintings. This is his 15th show but, the first at Swaraj Vithika. All the paintings cost between Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000.
