Congress leader KS Rao on Monday urged party worker to keep the party above everything and warned that there would be no room for factionalism within the party as it will only weaken the bash.

Rao, also Union Minister for Textiles, was here to inaugurate a textile mill. Coming here in the backdrop of a major defection from the party on the floor of State Assembly, Rao cautioned the leaders to remove such elements which promote factionalism for personal interests. He said that it was essential for strengthening the party that a collective leadership emerges by collective efforts.

Aiming at the ruling party here, he said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was playing Hindutva card for its electoral benefit by setting up different religions and communities against each other which is hurting peace and harmony of the country.

“BJP is playing the same game here in Madhya Pradesh as well. It wants to win the elections by hook or crook. But the people of State have become aware of the real face of BJP and the State Government,” he said, adding that he believed that the Congress will return to power in the coming legislative elections.

Addressing party leaders at the PCC office, he urged that party workers to highlight achievements of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre. He said that the people of Madhya Pradesh have traditionally been supporters of Congress and they could be persuaded to support the party.
