The play ‘Sanganiyam’ is a fine combination of three stories by Mahakavi Kalidas. This play not only focuses on these stories but also narrates the relationship between human and nature. Three female protagonists of the play present the three distinctive features of the nature and another three male protagonists presents the making of a relationship of mankind with the nature.
The first female protagonist Vanja a character of the play Shakuntala represents herself as the daughter of forests and nature. Vanja symbolises the pure example of a caring, kind and attractive woman. On the other hand, another female protagonist Damini comes from a play Vikramovarshiyam. She symbolises the playfulness of emotions yet strong and courageous personality.
The last female protagonist Nagrika is a character of the play Malvikaginmitram. She is a righteous personality and keeps in touch with the democratic world. She is the strong link between Damini and Vanja. Further, the male protagonist plays three different characters and showcases wondrous relationship with these three characters. This play also beautifully showcased the romanticism between male and female.
