In an early morning swoop, the Madhya Pradesh lokayukta police on Monday conducted simultaneous raids at residential and other premises of a head constable posted in the Transport Department, Arun Kumar Singh.
The raids were conducted in Indore, Satna, Rewa and Jabalpur in connection with a disproportionate assets case and unearthed assets worth crores of rupees disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The sleuths of the lokayukta police led by ASP lokayukta Daulat Singh under the directive of lokayukta SP Arun Kumar Mishra raided the residence of Singh in Annapurna Nagar locality of the city on Monday morning at around 6 am and started search operations in the presence of family members of Singh.
During the course of search operations, the lokayukta police stumbled upon several incriminating documents revealing unaccounted assets owned by Singh which he had apparently earned through unscrupulous means during his stint in the RTO at various locations. The documents seized during the search suggests that Singh owns three four-wheelers including a Scorpio, two plots each measuring 6,000 sq feet in the name of his wife, 30 acres land plot in Rewa, another 25 acres farmhouse in Rewa, two swanky houses in the same town besides two plots of the size 8,000 sq ft each, land plot on Indore-Mhow Road, two flats in Indore in the name of his son, eight bank accounts and several lockers.
Presently posted at Jabalpur, Singh was previously deployed at Sendhwa toll barrier, a posting considered to be super plum for ‘extra income’ in the transport department. The investigation and searches in Indore and other places were continuing till filing this report. Sources closed to the lokayukta police said that the magnitude of unaccounted income could be much bigger and will be revealed once the raids are completed.
On the basis of documents procured by the lokayukta police from his Indore residence, Singh owns a three-storey house in Annapurna Nagar worth over Rs one crore, two residential plots in a colony near Talawali Chanda, a Scorpio vehicle, two cars, eight bank accounts, two lockers, a farm house on Indore-Mhow road, two flats in the name of his sons, two plots measuring 6,000 each in the name of his wife.
