Public anger over the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack reached a boiling point on Wednesday with citizens from all walks of life taking to the streets in Bhopal to protest the killing of 27 innocent civilians.
In one of the first reactions, Congress MLA Arif Masood led a charged demonstration at the Char Batti area of Budhwara. The protesters sought swift action against those responsible for the killing of innocent tourists and rent the air with slogans against terrorism.
Outside the MP Waqf Board office, hundreds from the Muslim community burnt effigies of terrorism and Pakistan. Protesters held placards calling for justice and condemned the perpetrators in unequivocal terms.
Members of the Jai Hind Sena gathered at Bharat Mata Square, raising slogans and demanding action. The protest reflected deep outrage over the killing of 27 tourists in Jammu & Kashmir.
Chairman of the MP Waqf Board, Sanwar Patel, called the attack “shameful and inhumane”. He said the Muslim community had taken to the streets to denounce this evil.
“Pakistan shelters these terrorists,” Patel added. “But this time, they’ll find no refuge. The entire nation is standing as one, and the response will be decisive and unrelenting.”
Joining political leaders, citizens cutting across community lines, described the attack as "despicable" and minced no words while criticising it.
They said that the nation stands as one at this hour and awaits swift and decisive justice to those responsible for the killing of so many innocent people.
