District administration has registered cases against five petrol pumps proprietors in the city on the charge of providing fuel to customers with no helmets. Anomalies at these petrol pumps were formed after sleuths of food and civil supplies department made a random checking of several petrol pumps in the city.
Those against whom, cases have been registered include Usharaje petrol pump Mhow Naka, Kshama Automobiles, Scheme No. 71, Bhatia Service Station, laberia Bheru, Mannalal lachhiram, Navlakha and Shivom petrol pum Navlakha respectively.
Following instruction of the district collector P Narhari, a team led by assistant food and civil supplies inspector Shailesh Sharma had been constituted by food and civil supplies department to inspect compliance of the district administration’s ruling, according to which, all the petrol pump owners in the city had been categorically directed to provide fuel to only those customers wearing helmets.
However, following inspection of various petrol pumps in the city, the department sleuths found violation of the district administration’s ruling at above-mentioned petrol pumps with pump employees were seen giving petrol to customers without helmets.
The department sleuths immediately registered cases against proprietors of these petrol pumps under section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act.
District administration following rising incidents of casualties and serious injuries during road mishaps, sometime back had made it compulsory for all two-wheeler vehicle riders to wear helmets and accordingly gave categorical instructions in writing to all petrol pumps in the city to provide fuel to people coming to petrol pumps with two-wheelers only when they would be found to be wearing helmets.
However, of late incidents of violation of administration’s ruling were reported at many petrol pumps in the city, thereby prompting the administration to carry out an inspection of the petrol pumps in the city and take disciplinary action against those found to be violating its order.
