An incident of misbehaviour by a police officer with the family members of a martyr has come to fore in Rewa district on Saturday. Jitendra Kushwaha of Farhadi village in Rewa district was martyred in the terrorist attack in Manipur two days ago.
The father of the martyred had wished that the last rites should be performed with State honours and a statue as memorial be erected on his grave. He had also demanded that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should attend the funeral.
A relative of the martyred had in this regard called the SDOP of Rewa, Mahendra Singh Thakur on phone informing that the father of the martyred demanded that unless Chief Minister attends the funeral, they would not perform the last rites.
On this, the police officer bluntly told that if the family does not want to perform the last rites, they should keep the body at home. later, the voice recording of the SDOP was provided to media persons.
However, when the last rites were performed with State honours, the SDOP reached the village, but the annoyed villagers registered their protest and the officer was forced to leave the place.
