Procurement of coarse cereals on support price in the State will be made from October 27 to January 25, 2015. Food and Civil Supplies Department has issued directives regarding procurement arrangements to district collectors.
Support prices have been prescribed for Kharif marketing season 2014-15. Jawar hybrid will be procured at the rate of Rs 1,530 per quintal, Jawar Maldandi Rs 1,550 per quintal, millet Rs 1,250 per quintal and maize will be procured at the rate of Rs 1,310 per quintal.
Responsibility of procurement of coarse cereals will be given to concerning cooperative society. Arrangements have been made to impart district-level training to field staff of cooperative society, State Civil Supplies Corporation, Warehousing & logistics Corporation, Food, Cooperatives and Revenue departments to examine quality of coarse cereals. Instructions have been given to field staff to motivate farmers to bring coarse cereals to procurement centres after drying and sieving them.
Agriculture Departments has assessed possibility of procurement of one lakh MT coarse cereals in the State this year. Farmers will be provided all facilities at procurement centres. They will be given computerised receipt against procurement signed by procurement officer. It will bear name of concerning farmer, bank account number and payable amount. Registered farmers will be intimated about date of procurement through SMS at least 5 days in advance. Soon after storage of procured coarse cereals in godowns, payment will be made for its cost and labour charges immediately.
Coarse cereals will be procured in standard gunny bags at procurement centres following which they would be sewed with double red colour thread. Red colour seal will also be put on gunny bags. Standard weight of gunny bag has been fixed as 665 gram per bag. Electronic weighing machines and porters will be available at procurement centres.
Controller Weights and Measurements have been directed to make this arrangement by October 20. Directives have been given to transport procured coarse cereals from procurement centres to godowns. Concerning society will make arrangements for transportation after 80 percent procurement is made. A control room will start functioning from October 27 at Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies, Vindhyachal Bhavan, Bhopal from 9 am to 8 pm.
