Bhopal District Congress Committee president PC Sharma said that the suggestion taken from the residents for the construction of Smart city at Shivaji Nagar and Tulsi Nagar through SMS must be investigated as they are mostly fake SMSs. The change in the location of the smart city to North TT Nagar is also a Congress effort, he added. The people who have sent fake SMSs for their personal benefit must be punished.

While talking to the media persons here on Wednesday Sharma said that the government asked for the suggestion through SMS for the citizens to give their opinion. He further said that when Congress investigated the matter found as many as 4000 SMSs in the name of one person sent as suggestion.

Sharma alleged that to mislead the citizens the senior officials and employees of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation had sent the fake SMSs. The District Congress Committee demands for strict action against those officials and employees, he added.

Congress Corporator of ward number 46 Guddu Chouhan said that the State government has spent more than Rs two crore in different meetings held for the Smart city project at Shivaji Nagar and Tulsi Nagar. He further demanded strict action against those who lavishly spent the public money on these extravagant meetings.

Chouhan said that for the Smart city 20 meetings were conducted in which more that Rs two crore was spent. The decision should be taken by talking to the citizens and not by holding meetings in air conditioned hotels, he added. If they would have asked the citizens before taking a decision, they would have known what the public opinion is about the Smart city being located at Shivaji Nagar and Tulsi Nagar.

Chouhan further said that the District Congress Committee demands that the spent money be retrieved from the concerned officials and leaders. He further said that the opinion of the citizens must also be taken for the constriction of Smart city at the new location, North TT Nagar.
