In a gruesome incident which resembles a Bollywood masala movie, an unidentified miscreant masquerading as a doctor shot dead a prisoner on the   third floor of the MY hospital in the wee hours of Monday morning.

The incident occurred at around  4 am, when a person in the uniform of a doctor  wearing an apron  with  his mouth covered with a bandage, came to the  patient’s bed No. 12 of the third floor of  MY Hospital. He asked a jail guard standing there to show the treatment file of the patient. After going through the treatment documents for a while, he shot dead the patient sleeping on bed no. 12 with a revolver from point blank range and fled. At the time of the incident, most of the patients were asleep. The incident created a panic with patients waking up to the gun shot.

The deceased has been identified as Ramdayal (25), son of Sunderlal, a native of Kannaud (Harda district). The deceased who was undergoing jail term in Harda had recently been shifted to Indore central for the treatment of his brain tumour. He had been admitted to the surgery department only on July 16 where his operation was scheduled on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, according to another prisoner, Jitendra alias Jeetu Thakur, who was sleeping on bed no. 17 of the same ward, the incident might have been a case of mistaken identity as bed no. 12 had earlier been allotted to him. The hospital administration following his request had shifted him to bed no. 17 on Sunday evening. later, bed no. 12 was allotted to the deceased Ramdayal. He said the accused might have come there to kill him but he miraculously escaped the attack after he shifted to bed no. 17.

Jitendra alias JD who is undergoing jail term for murdering a restaurant owner Pintu Thakur in Banganga locality last year on November 22 expressed apprehension that the accused might have come to kill him to avenge the murder of Pintu Thakur but in a mistaken identity, the accused killed Ramdayal.

SP OP Tripathi said they are probing into the suspicion angle of JD to ascertain whether the apprehension made by him is genuine or it is just a tool to implicate the family members of slain Pintu Thakur as a part of his strategy.
