The president of System Parivarthan Adhikari Karmachari Sangatan (SPAKS) Azad Singh Dabas said has questioned the presence of 10 Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCFs) in the State, while as per rules there can be only nine posts of PCCFs.

In a letter to Chief Secretary Anthony DeSa, he said that an additional PCCF cannot be promoted to the post of PCCF only after one gets retired.

Dabas alleged that the Chief Minister announced the establishment of Forest Academy during the tendupatta collectors’ mega convention in Bhopal only to promote one particular person to the post of PCCF.

Dabas further said that in reality there is no need of an extra academy as there are already 8 Forest Academies and one Rangers College functional in the State. These are more than enough for the training of the Forest Guards. On one side these officers are attempting all the tactics to get promoted, on the other side they care least about the conservation of forest and wildlife.

Notably, these forests produced 60 lakh cubic meter timber and fire woods 50 years back which have reduced to 3 lakh cubic meter, he added. Similarly, the production of bamboo reduced from 4 lakh notional ton to 75,000 notional ton, Dabas added.

Dabas further said that to promote this particular person, two officers are being sent on leave. And this special officer has done nothing throughout his service to deserve such a promotion against the rules, Dabas added.

Besides, in a letter to PCCF Animesh Shukla, Dabas alleged that retired additional PCCF Satish Tyagi was facing different charges of illegal felling of trees and he did not discharge his duties earnestly in the interest of the department. He demanded disciplinary action against Tyagi.
