Preparations in City for Parasuram Jayanti

Published on:

Preparations are on in the city to celebrate Parasuram Jayanti on Wednesday and as the birthday of lord Parasuram. The day being the Akshaya Tritiya is also regarded as the most auspicious and revered day for marriages. It is widely believed that holy rites, rituals and acts of charity performed on this day bring everlasting bliss and prosperity.

Usually processions and satsangs are organised in most parts of North India on the Parasuram Jayanti, but this year there will not be any processions or meetings because of the section 144 that is being enforced throughout the district.

In the backdrop of the recent unpleasant incidents police have stepped up security in the city and the outskirts. The department has also issued a ban on shooting of rifles during the marriage celebrations.

With hundreds of weddings scheduled along with the Parasuram Jayanti, the city is expected to witness massive traffic jams on Wednesday. Addl SP, Dinesh Kaushal who is charting out the security and traffic plans visited the various sensitive locations and took stock of the arrangements.  Speaking to the media persons, the ASP said that apart from the existing forces in the city, additional forces from reserve battalions will be deployed on Wednesday.
