Prashant sees critical flaws in judicial system

Criticising flaws in the judicial system of the country, a prominent lawyer of the Supreme Court, Prashant Bhushan, said that inefficient lawyers raising the possibility of wrong judgments is high even after prolonged trials.

In his scathing attack on the judicial system at a programme at Shaheed Bhawan, Bhushan said that the Supreme Court cannot issue orders to legislature, but can issue orders to the Government. A large-scale campaign is required to correct the judicial system, he said, adding that the people in power do not want the system to change. The Government wants the system to remain distorted and disorderly.

Bhushan said, "People who engage an advocate also suffer immensely as they are provided with next hearing dates and there are several advocates who do not know anything about law, despite in possession of a degree."

He also attacked the RSS by saying that it is saffronizing the nation. There are many States where education has been saffornized. The minorities have been on the suffering end.

He claimed that if the atrocities on Muslims and Christians continued they would join militant organistations like the ISIS.

Bhusan alleged that there are judges who are indulging in corruption and that is due to lack of accountability of the judges towards the judicial system. The lower judiciary is accountable towards the High Court but the High Court is not reciprocating in the same manner.

After retirement many judges go for arbitration. It is such an industry where judges are involved. After retiring from Supreme Court most judges make crores of rupees through arbitration, added Bhushan.

Arbitration works when the judicial system is down. This is the reason why the people in power, let it be in politics or judicial system, does not want the system to change.

He emphasized that there must be a large-scale movement against the judicial system like it was against corruption.
