With the jingle of the local body election winding up slowly, the State Government has now started its move to privatise electricity supply in the Gwalior region. Sources said ESSEl Power company has also accelerated its preparations to take over electricity arrangement. The hands are likely to be changed by December 15, it further said.Meanwhile, the main opposition Congress is preparing to block it by tooth and nail.
The Congress alleged the Government had postponed the move to misguide the voters in view of the local bodies’ polls. After the formation of BJP-led Municipal Corporation and election of Mayor, the saffron party has kept silent. The city district Congress committee has declared to stage a 24-hour dharna from Dec 12.
On the other hand, the ESSEl company has said that the preparation to take over the electricity works has been completed. The dharna of the Congress would be staged at Phoolbagh Square. The district Congress committee president Darshan Singh said BJP had deceived the people of Gwalior. Singh warned the State Government to cancel its move to privatise the electricity and said that the Congress would oppose the Government’s move tooth and nail.
The Pro ESSEl power Praveena Mishra said that the preparation of ESSEl power for privatisation has been completed.
