1200 KV National Test Station at Bina (MP) equipped with BHEl Bhopal developed India’s first 1200 KV Transformer of capacity 333 MVA is synchronised with the Grid on 18-05-2016 and power flow has started through the 1200 kV experimental line. Significantly, BHEl Transformer charged at 1200 kV in the test station since 2012 and running satisfactorily since then.
BHEl Bhopal developed and supplied 1 no. 333 MVA 1200 kV Transformer and 2 nos. 1200 kV CVT for the project of National importance. This is an indigenous development of first 1200 kV equipment by BHEl after 3 years of intensive research and manufactured under controlled environment using latest state of the art manufacturing and testing facilities at Bhopal works. BHEl is the largest manufacturer of Power Transformers in India.
As part of establishment of 1200 kV Transmission network for distant bulk power transfer in the country, the 1200 kV National Test Station at Bina is developed by country’s central transmission utility POWERGRID in association with 35 Indian manufacturers, first of its kind in the world. BHEl had signed MOU with POWERGRID for development of the most critical equipment of the project i.e. 1200 kV Transformer. With successful field operation and experimentation of 1200 kV equipment, country will be self-sufficient in this high end technology field, paving way for establishment of commercial 1200 kV Transmission network. Truly ‘Make in India’.
Training on Root Cause Analysis of Failure in Power Plants
Human Resource Development Centre, BHEl Bhopal has organized a one day programmeon Root Cause Analysis of Generating Equipments particularly for Transformer failure in Power Plants for Executives and Supervisors.
AGM and HOD (HRD) Brajesh Agrawal emphasized the importance of root cause analysis particularly in light of reducing failures and enhancing the life of equipments of BHEl. AGM (P and PR, HRDC) AK Chaturvedi urged the participants to make full use of the programme.
The systematic approach for RCA addressed to the BHEl Engineers & Supervisors will help them to conduct the same, so that the exact reason of failure is known and possibilities for improvement & corrective measures to be taken to prevent/ minimize such failures of Transformer in future. The basic knowledge & skills needed to arrive at real root cause for Transformer failure was highlighted.
Transformer Expert and Ex- AGM BHEl Bhopal CP Deshmukh presented the program and imparted the training to the participants with the objective of enabling them to gain knowledge on failure in power plants. The training will be highly beneficial to all engineers of this field.
