The aim of the scheme is to provide power to illuminate the houses of financially weaker sections of the society. The applications of the schemes could be collected and submitted before April 30, 2017.

The three power management companies have appealed to the consumers of their regions to take benefit of the scheme. The scheme was started from September 2016 and continued till January 31, 2017 but the scheme has been started again with the same benefits.

In the scheme the consumers have been divided under two categories.  In the first category people under BPl category and notified slum areas low voltage domestic consumers and second category would comprise others except the first category.

The first category is divided in two categories A and B. In category A if the consumer is willing to clear dues by making lump sum payment then the consumer has to pay the current month bill and 50 per cent dues and in the next month the consumer would have to pay current month bill and 50 per cent of the remaining amount. Consumer’s remaining 50 per cent amount and 100 per cent surcharge would be waived off.
