Corruption has started in the construction of ghats for Simhastha in Ujjain as substandard construction is exposing the plight of the ghats.
The Government is making arrangements to provide eight kilometer long ghats in Ujjain to provide bathing facility to the devotees in the Simhastha. But the construction of ghats has started falling prey of corruption.
At some places the substandard construction is telling the plight of ghats while the older ghats need repairing. Despite all this the administration is doing only makeshift work. A similar issue has come to fore in the construction of ghats in the city.
Many shortcomings have started seeing at the 2 thousand meter long ghat constructed at a cost of 12 crore rupees especially the condition of ghats at Bhukimata, lalpul to Karkraj Temple is very poor. Stairs of the ghats have started breaking down and the downhill have started crumbling.
Despite all this the administration is not taking notice of it. The poor quality construction has started showing plight of the ghats and it is feared that all the ghats are undergoing substandard construction and the administration is mute spectator.
Not only this, the condition in the Mangalnath area is worst as the ghats here have started dangling in the air and the condition is that the soil has subsidence beneath the ghats that were submerged under water due to the excessive rains sometime back. These ghats have become hollow. The administration has though identified these ghats and has started repairing work over them but it needed to work with caution so that no untoward disaster took place during Simhastha.
