In the past 11 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has changed the face of politics in MP. Now, the politics in the State is based on development, instead of caste or creed. The saffron party has brought radical changes in different fronts, whether towards women’s empowerment, infrastructural development, good governance or other spheres. This has reduced the Congress in the State Assembly to 65 seats only in the 230-member House.
However, political observers feel that the ruling BJP would have to face the important examination now, after 11 years of governance. Problems are now cropping up with the Government in terms of shortage of fertilizers to farmers and financial problems.
The achievements of the BJP Government cannot be ruled out. For the first time in the State, people witnessed better conditions in the electricity sector. While comparing the previous Congress regime, people witnessed a change in the situation, no matter the State Government made several efforts to complete the demand.
Earlier, for 50 years, no efforts were made towards good governance in the State, but in the past 11 years, Madhya Pradesh has set a milestone in the field. Samadhan Online was introduced first, in which Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan listens to the problems of the citizens. Besides, CM helpline, Kisan call centre, Jan Sunwai, lok Kalyan Shivir and Samadhan Ek Din Me, in which district Collector solves the problems then and there, were introduced.
lok Seva guarantee was another milestone in this direction. Under this, time limit has been fixed for every service provided in Government offices and there is provision of penalty on the officers concerned for not rendering services. listing the property of Government servants online was also a major decision.The Chief Minister has also taken the initiative towards establishing a Good Governance School in the State.
In health sector, the increase in institutionalized delivery has reduced remarkably the IMR and MMR, which indicate the health situation in any State. Besides, awareness has been created towards girl child by initiating programmes like ‘Beti Bachao Abhiyan’ and ‘Mamata Abhiyan’. A lot of work has been done in making agriculture a profitable profession. Similarly, works with a vision in sports and tourism sectors have also yielded better results.
