Policy focus on development of centralised renewable energy

Published on:

After the State Cabinet endorsed the Madhya Pradesh Centralised Renewable Energy Policy 2016, the Energy Department Principal Secretary Manu Shrivastava explained its various aspects.

While talking to media persons here on Friday, Shrivastava said that the main objective of the policy is to encourage the development of centralised renewable energy based electricity projects and to reduce the utility of traditional sources of energy.

The objective of the policy is to reduce carbon emission and to promote the development of clean technique in MP.

This policy would work to develop sustainable energy solution and provide energy security to the country.

He further said that the centralised renewable energy system would be operated by ‘Grid Connected RE System’ and ‘Off Grid RE System’. The Grid Connected RE System comprises three categories. Category 1 or Net Metering Renewable Energy Plant would utilize its energy in the building and it will supply the extra electricity to the grid. These plants would be established under the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission. The energy produced by the plant of the Category 2 would be wholly conserved in the grid and this energy could be supplied to anywhere in the state.  No energy would be exported out of the building under the Category 3 or Base load Supply Plant of the ‘Grid Connected RE System’.

Renewable energy could reach every house through the implementation of this policy. The energy department would not take any registration fee for this scheme. The beneficiaries would also be benefitted by the grants of the state government and central government for the establishment of rooftop solar plants, he added.
