In his regular press briefing today, Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra said in response to a question that in the case of Love Jihad that came to the fore in Bhopal on Wednesday, the police have registered a case and started action. He said that the government is serious about love jihad. The government is seriously considering making pre-marriage police verification mandatory for marriage registrars, marriage bureaus, Arya Samaj and other institutions like notaries to prevent love jihad.
Home Minister Mishra said that a month before the applications reach these institutions, they have enough time for police verification, this will also be a big step to prevent incidents like love jihad.
