Aiming to reach maximum number of citizens and make them aware of the Dial 100 helpline services, State police has created a Facebook page and a Twitter account to make the services more easily accessible. Under the helpline services, citizens in emergency situations could Dial 100 and ask for help and to make the services more popular, new age social communication means are used. Facebook and twitter are popular platforms for social communication and messaging. Apart from being popular, these communication means are easy accessible and economical ways of communication.
With the aim to reach youth, which are more active on social networking sites, the Dial 100 helpline services have been expanded. The police have created page ‘Dial 100’ on facebook and the twitter account is ‘dial100mp’. The creation of accounts on social media is with the aim of two-way interaction in which the citizens could provide suggestions regarding services.
Around 1,000 equipped vehicles would be made available round the clock at public places to provide help during emergencies. Earlier arrangements for establishing a State-level centralised ‘Dial-100’ control have been made, which would become fully functional across the State in next four years. The 51 districts of the State would be provided with 1,000 fast response vehicles. The vehicles would be equipped with Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
Under the scheme, an officer would be assigned termed as communication officer at every police station, besides the offices of CSP, SDOP, SP, IG and DIG office across the State. These communication officers would investigate the cases and constantly monitor the development in the cases from the State-level control room.
