Police still clueless in Kavita Raina case

The police still appear to be clueless in the brutal Kavita Raina murder case that rocked the city 10 days back. Though police are zeroing in its investigation on various conspiracy angles, any major breakthrough in the murder case is yet to be achieved.

Even as recovery of the Activa scooter of the deceased Kavita from Naulakha bus stand two days ago, has increased the hopes of city police in achieving an early breakthrough in the case, the meeting of a person with the relatives of Kavita on Wednesday evening appears to give a new twist to the case.

According to police, a 35-year-old man masquerading as a media person went to the residence of Kavita on Wednesday afternoon around 4 pm and inquired with the family members about the murder case.

The man who introduced himself as Kamal Jatav, a journalist from Punjab Kesri, carrying a black-coloured bag on his shoulder, was spotted by a woman investigating officer Manju Yadav at Kavita's residence. When the police team inquired with him about his identity as a journalist and sought an identity card from him, he did not give a categorical reply.

However, police stumbled upon some documents and few press identity cards following a search of his bag. The police have taken the person in its custody for further interrogation. The woman investigating officer Manju Yadav when contacted refused to make any comment about the so-called journalist.

Kavita Raina murder case had rocked the city few days back when her bodies slashed in six parts were recovered from two gunny sacks from a nullah early morning on August 26. Police established identity of the body as Kavita Raina alias Kavita Kumawat after clubbing her body parts. According to her husband, who is an area sales manager in a pharma company, Kavita who had gone to bus stand to receive her daughter was reportedly missing since August 24 last month and it was only on August 26 that police recovered her bodies slashed brutally in six parts from a nullah.
