Amid missive from some BJP leaders to Garba organisers in the city asking them to allow participation of youths in the Garba programme during Navratri on their valid identity cards and deny entry of Muslim youths in the programme, city police ahead of Navratri festival which will start from Thursday onward, have stepped up its security at all the major Garba venues of the city as a precautionary measure.
In order to avoid any untoward incident during the Garba, the police administration while directing Garba organisers for taking elaborate security measures at their respective venues, has also alerted all the police stations asking them to take security steps at the sensitive Garba venues in its respective localities, keep a constant watch on all those Garba venues which are considered to be sensitive from security point of view by deploying jawans there.
In addition to existing strength of police jawans, the police administration has requisitioned additional 200 jawans which include jawans from Quick Action Response Force so as to avoid possible incidents of eve-teasing. To prevent eve-teasing, women cops along with women PCR van will keep patrolling Garba venues.
As a precautionary measure, police have already intensified security measures have launched combing measures near the prominent Garba venues of the city.
