Police negligence has surfaced in the death of a 27-year-old woman who was allegedly killed by her in-laws, claimed her parents.

A complaint has been lodged with the State Woman's Commission in the case of dowry harassment and murder.

On July 27, Sangeeta Gupta, a resident of Berasia, was admitted to Hamidia Hospital in a state of unconsciousness after her health deteriorated. She died during treatment. The family members of the woman have accused the in-laws of torture and murdered for dowry.

Also, the family members alleged that the police did not act on the complaint made earlier, due to which the daughter was murdered.

On July 27, when her health deteriorated, Sangeeta's family took her to Hamidia Hospital. During this, Sangeeta had pointed towards her husband and mother-in-law with her hand. Sangeeta died on 30 July.

There were injury marks and burn marks on his body. Sangeeta's mother told that three months ago her in-laws had given her poison.

The family members said that Sangeeta's husband Raju and mother-in-law used to accuse her of being characterless and  threatened to marry again.

Sangeeta's husband Raju Gupta alias Bobby also used to harass her. Sangeeta returned home after she was hit by her father-in-law and husband, but the elders of the society advised her to go back to her in-laws' house and she went back to her in-laws' house.

Mother-in-law Seema Gupta and father-in-law Bholaram Gupta had hit her; she lodged a complaint with Berasia police on July 8 but no action was taken.
