Three vehicles were recovered from a 19-year-old vehicle lifter, who was nabbed from Pari Park area under Shahjehanabad police station area on Tuesday; heavily addicted to drugs and alcohol, accused used to steal vehicles for drugs.
According to the Shahjehanabad police late in the evening on Tuesday a youth wandering suspiciously was questioned regarding his scooter but the youth failed to provide details of the vehicle and resorted to excuses. When the details of the scooter were checked with RTO website, the owner happened to be different as told by the detained youth.
The accused was identified as Mohammad Adil of Sunder Nagar. later when he was questioned he confessed stealing two more two wheelers which were recovered from his possession.
Police nabbed the accused after receiving a tip off regarding a youth with a stolen scooter.
In the initial investigation police found that the accused has been booked for different crimes like burglary and robbery at different police stations of the city.
Accused told the police that he is heavily addicted to drugs and for fulfilling his needs of drugs he started to commit crimes. Stolen motorbikes were used for robbery, theft and burglary.
The details of other crimes committed by the accused would be revealed in the further investigation and more recoveries would be made claimed the police.
Police said that the people who helped the accused in disposing off the robbed and stolen goods would be searched and action would be taken against them in the further investigation.
