Hanumanganj Police have successfully arrested two absconding suspects involved in a violent attack that occurred on June 7, 2025. The attack, which led to injuries to two brothers, has been classified as an attempt to murder.
According to the police, Aftab (19), a resident of Garam Gadda Sikandari Sarai under Bajaria Police Station limits, filed a complaint reporting the incident. Aftab stated that he had gone to pick up his younger brother, Aajin, from a tea stall near Bhopal Talkies around 1:00 am. While returning home, the brothers were attacked by two unknown assailants near the Bhopal Talkies crossing.
The attackers verbally abused the brothers before assaulting them—one with a stick and the other with a sharp weapon. The attackers also threatened to kill the brothers if they reported the incident to the police.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at Hanumanganj Police Station under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 296, 115, 118(1), 351(2), and 3(5), with Section 109 BNS added later during the investigation.
Using CCTV footage and ground-level inquiries, police identified the accused with the help of informers. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the suspects—Bhola alias Ateeq Khan (70) and Altaf Khan (20)—both residents of Janta Nagar, Karond, on June 16, 2025.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. A knife used in the attack was recovered from Altaf Khan, leading to the addition of Section 25 of the Arms Act to the charges.
The accused have been presented before the Hon'ble Court of Bhopal. The case is now registered under sections 296, 109, 115, 118(1), 351(2), and 3(5) BNS, along with Section 25 of the Arms Act.
