Berasia police on Tuesday arrested a man who allegedly killed his 28-year-old wife, for putting ‘hurdle’ in his illicit relations with his sister-in-law. The accused has been identified as Rambabu Vishwakarm. Police said Vishwakarma, after killing his wife, fabricated a story that his wife was abducted by some armed miscreants and murdered her. The accused also misled the police by stating that while the family was asleep four miscreants entered their home, but he managed to escape and rushed towards his friend Pool Singh’s house to get help. But when he returned home he found that his wife was kidnapped and murdered
A police officer investigating the case said that Rambabu had brought his sister-in-law Geeta Vishwakarma, wife of his cousin. Since, her husband and son were in jail in connection with some murder cases, Rambabu had developed relationship with her. As Mamta used to fight with Rambabu suspecting his illicit relationship with Geeta, he decided to eliminate her. During the investigation several angles emerged which were pointing that Rambabu’s wife might have been killed due to political enmity as he was contesting for Sarpanch or he played important role in divorce of her sister-in-law Akhilesh and the families used to blame Rambabu for the divorce.
The accused owns farm in the area and was financially stable but was frustrated with her wife who used to suspect about his relationship with Geeta. On the day of the incident Rambabu was talking over phone and when he was stopped by the deceased she was attacked with a sharp edged weapon on her neck and later escaped to inform others with a concocted story.
