Various political parties have demanded the release of RTI Activist Manoj Tripathi, who had tried to commit suicide by immolating himself during the Guard of Honour at Governor House on September 7.
While talking to media persons here on Sunday, Shiv Sena District President Ranjeet Singh Thakur told that Manoj Tripathi was booked for committing suicide under Section 353, 332, 186, 109, 120B and 34 of the IPC. Tripathi was released on bail on September 14 from the Central Jail, Bhopal. However, the administration had arrested Tripathi again on October 4 under Section 3 of the National Security Act 1980 and sent him to Central Jail, Gwalior on October 4 instead of providing him treatment as he was excessively burnt. This is the violation of human rights of Tripathi, he added.
Thakur alleged that Manoj Tripathi was demanding strict action on the accused of the Vyapam scam but the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been trying to save the accused of the scam. The Government is exploiting the RTI activist Manoj Tripathi instead of taking action against the police officials as the incident was a fault of the police administration.
Thakur along with the leaders of the other political party further alleged that District Collector Nishant Varwade and Bhopal Superintendent of Police (South) Anshuman Singh have misused their positions and booked Manoj Tripathi under the National Security Act 1980. Strict action should also be taken on the collector and the SP.
Thakur said that he has also been exploited by the police officials as the police have arrested him like a criminal on the midnight on October 13 and afterwards in the morning the officials have released him without making any case.
All India Democratic Party’s National General Secretary Vijay Kumar Gupta stated, “We want strict action against the responsible officials and Manoj Tripathi should be released immediately.”
Office bearers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, lok Jan Shakti Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Nationalist Congress Party and Samta Vikas Party remained present during the meeting.
