PMT scam: Congress questions CM's relationship with Dr Mehta

Published on:

Madhya Pradesh Congress has asked Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to tell the people of State about his relations with vice-president of Jan Abhiyan Parishad Dr Ajay Mehta who has been questioned for his involvement in the PMT scam as per the initial investigations of the Special task Force (STF).

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice-president Manak Agarwal in a statement here on Monday said, “The facts coming to fore in the initial stages of STF investigation suggest that

Dr Mehta is involved in the PMT scam. The needle of suspicion in fake mark sheets and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets is pinning up on him and if the STF investigation is clubbed with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), then it is for sure that

Dr Mehta would also join the list of main accused of Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam. “In these circumstances it becomes necessary that the Chief Minister should immediately tell the people of the State about what are his relations with Dr Mehta are.”

Agrawal further said that the subsidiary of the State Government, Jan Abhiyan Parishad has made thousands of appointments of important field employees during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule. Fingers have been raised again on these appointments, he added.

He said that it is known to all that Dr Mehta is very near to the Chief Minister and is seen almost every day in the Chief Minister house. In these conditions if Dr Mehta’s name is appearing in country’s biggest educational and employment scam than it becomes necessary that the people of the State should know about the relations of Dr Mehta and Chief Minister.

The senior Congress said that it is suspected that the printing press where fake mark-sheets and OMR sheets used to get printed is also owned by Dr Mehta in partnership with a senior BJP leader.
