Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was misleading the people over poverty in the country.
BJP MP and Madhya Pradesh Election Management incharge Anil Madhav Dave told mediapersons here on Saturday that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while addressing an election rally in Chhattisgarh on Saturday claimed that poverty has reduced in the country, this was a misleading statement.
Dave further said, “Singh’s statement is below the dignity of the post of Prime Minister. The people of the country know very well that the poverty is on the rise ever since the Congress-led UPA Government had taken over the reins of the country.” He said that during the Congress regime inflation had increased by 300 per cent, making life of the common man difficult. Prime Minister’s statement that BJP changed history and geography of the country was unfortunate.
People of the country knew well that who changed the geography of the country a day before the Independence of the country and the Prime Minister should take cognizance of this issue that it was Congress that has changed the geography of the country, he added. He said BJP had always talked of strengthening the country and its economic prosperity. In 1972 late Indira Gandhi by giving the slogan of removing poverty made mockery of poor that reflected the feudal mindset of the Congress party.
He said the Congress had always exploited the poor. The poverty figures had gone up in the country during the Congress rule, he added. Meanwhile, Dave in a separate statement informed that party national vice president Prabhat Jha, State president Narendra Singh Tomar and State organisational general secretary Arvind Menon held discussions over various aspects of election management.
“Future work plan for making Mission 2013 successful was also discussed during the meeting,” Dave said.
