The bravery tales of King Raghunath Shah and his son Shahnkar Shah will be told once again to the Bhopalites. Showcasing the play based on their life and sacrifices the one day theatre fest is organised by Directorate of Swaraj Sansthan, Bhopal. Notably, the play ‘Veer Viplavee’ will be staged here on September 18 at Shaheed Bhawan Auditorium in order to mark the occasion of ‘Martyrs Day’.
The artists of Children’s Theatre Academy would present the historical play Veer Viplavee at Shaheed Bhavan under the direction of one of the renowned theatre director and founder of Children’s Theatre Academy Prem Gupta. The play is written by Sunil Mishra. The baseline of the play presents the time of British rule in India. It illustrates the life span of Shankar Shah, the ruler of a small kingdom at Jabalpur and his son Raghunaath Shah. Both fought against the British rule and tried to captivate more and more people in their struggle. Even the children of their kingdom were a part of this fight. Explaining about the play Veer Viplavee, Gupta said, “This particular incident happened during the time of British rule, in the year 1854, when in September 1854 both, Shankar Shah and Raghunaath Shah were assassinated by the Britishers and blown away by the cannon.” He further said that the people rarely know about this incident and to spread this bravery tale among the masses the play will be presented. Notably, the play had been presented earlier under the theatre festival ‘Veerangana’ organised by Swaraj Sansthan that evoked pretty good response.
