A Hindi play ‘Hansa Karle Kilol’ narrating the bravery and valour of unsung heroes of freedom struggle was staged at Ravindra Bhavan. The play was performed by the students of Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD) here on Tuesday.

The play marked the opening day of four day theatre festival. The play was staged by the students of MPSD batch 2018-19.

Directed by Arun Pandey, the play was adorned with the Rai dance and Bundelkhandi dialect which was well received by the audience.

The play Hansa Karle Kilol began with a very strong narration. The narrator presents the tale of King Chhatrasal. King Chhtrasal was a warrior and a great king. He fought for the country against British rule. As the play goes on, the narrator tells the audience and the listeners on stage about his bravery. Slowly and gradually, the play becomes more interesting as the listeners on stage asks the narrator to tell the stories of other heroes, who have contributed in the freedom struggle but even after  their sacrifices and struggles are still unnamed.

Agreeing by the listeners, the narrator then tells the stories of Rai dancer and Mridangam player. He tells the listeners that there was one Rai dancer who was a mistress to King Madhukar. One day when the British officials came to collect the tax, they saw her dancing. To take pleasure, they all kidnapped her, but the dancer killed many of those officials.

In the last story, there was one Mridangam player who was in love with a girl. When the Britishers molested her, he killed all of them as revenge. After that he worked for the freedom struggle. When the British officials arrested him and asked his last wish, he said that he wants to play Mridangam one last time. With that musical performance he captured the hearts of the audience.

The play was beautifully staged leaving the audience mesmerized.
