Play Mukaam Dehru, Jilla Nagaor performed

A comedy play Mukaam Dehru, Jilaa Nagaor was brilliantly performed at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan.
Directed by Mohit Takalkar, the play was performed by the artists of Ujaagar Dramatic Association (UDA), Jaipur on Tuesday.
Marking the eighth day of 35th anniversary of Bharat Bhavan the play was much appreciated by the theatre buffs of the city. The play is inspired by Paresh Mokashi's original farce Mukkampost Bombilwadi and was translated by Jitendra Joshi.
It is 1942. On one side revolution is in the air in a pre-independent India with Gandhi announcing the Quit India movement and on the other hand, the rest of the world is burning in the flames of World War II, spear-headed by one of the greatest dictators of all times.
In a wholly unique, hilarious tale of 'Mukaam Dehru, Jilaa Nagaur' the audience witness a chance meeting of an uninvited guest, Adolf Hitler.
The play is followed with the bewildering array of characters trying to put up a ridiculous play in a remote village of Dehru forgotten in one dusty corner of Rajasthan.
There are characters that make a collage of comedy of errors. The characters on stage includes Hitler and his loyal secretary Goebbels, two British spies, an over enthusiastic young revolutionary fighting for independent India, a quack who invents medicines at the snap of his fingers, a Shakespeare loving British police officer, a ghost fearing local constable, a film struck director directing a play in Marwadi, a starry eyed young girl waiting to be a heroine, a barber trying hard to mug his lines and a house wife aspiring to be a political leader.
What follows is a deliciously funny exploration of mistaken identities and a disastrous rehearsal of an equally disastrous play all woven together in one crazy blend of history and fiction.
The play was wonderfully performed on stage leaving the audience totally enthralled.
