A play ‘Sambodhan’ showcasing twisted lives of a young girl and her father was staged at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Friday. The play was performed under the regular series ‘Abhinayan’.
Written by Sunil Raj, the play was directed by Aarti Vishwakarma and was presented by the artists of Aviram Theatre Group, Bhopal.
The play points towards such relationships that are present in one’s life, but they are never recalled or remembered. The story of the play revolves around the life of a broken family. It began with introducing a girl named ‘Shruti’ and a person in disguise named Rajeshwar. Both of them meet at a park and as they began to talk about their life a shocking truth was realized by both of them. Shruti was Rajeshwar’s father who left his wife Shraddha 20 years back.
The play take a twist and the story went to the flashback where Rajeshwar and Shraddha are in their young age and are happily married. Suddenly ego-fights start to take place of love in their lives both get departed. Unaware of the fact that Shraddha is expecting Rajeshwar leaves her and never returned.
As the play comes back to the present day, Rajeshwar realizes his never ending love for Shraddha, but Shruti tells her father that Shraddha is no more. Shruti hates his father and so she never ‘addressed’ him as daddy ever. Rajeshwar is left alone with nothing, but a broken dream and unfulfilled desire.
The play was a whirl of relationships and the struggle to fight with one’s ego. The most amusing part of the play was that role of mother and daughter was played by actress Aarti Vishwakarma and Sunil Raj in the lead role as Rajeshwar also managed to maintain the interest of the audience. The set division and the lighting effect with the soothing live music on stage filled the moods of the scenes with more enthusiasm and zeal.
