Girls literacy promotion scheme is being implemented in the State by Scheduled Castes Welfare Department to promote literacy among scheduled caste girls. Benefit of the scheme was provided to 2.90 lakh girls last year.
The department has provisioned Rs34.50 crore in its budget for current year for the scheme. Under the scheme, cash incentive of Rs500 is provided to a girl taking admission in Class VI after passing class V, Rs1000 on securing admission in Class IX and Rs3000 on getting admission in Class XI. SR
