The Crime Branch police have booked unidentified miscreant on the charge of creating a fake Facebook of a 21-year-old married woman and posting indecent photographs; accused demanded Rs 5 lakh from victim.
Police said that the complainant is a resident of Anand Nagar and lodged a complaint with the police regarding posting of messages over fake facebook profile made using her name and photographs.
The police started investigation and obtained information and based on the information it would be investigated that the fake profiles were operated from which area.
The victim was not aware regarding the fake facebook and on March 10 this year she received a call and was threatened of posting indecent photographs if she fails to provide Rs 5 lakh to accused.
For the past five months accused continued to threaten and harass victim and annoyed over the accused she reported the incident to her husband.
Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section IT act and relevant IPC sections.
Police have narrowed down on the accused and raided several places in search of the accused.
Police are yet to confirm crime record of the accused and her involvement in crimes of the same nature and would search his electronic devices and social media accounts. The reason of creating fake profile would be investigated as the accused is yet to be questioned.
