Piplani Police break major burglary ring, solve multiple cases

Piplani Police have successfully arrested notorious burglar Ilyas Khan, who had been on the run for nearly two months. His arrest comes after intense efforts by law enforcement following the earlier apprehension of his accomplice, Asif Khan. The duo had been involved in multiple burglaries across various areas in Bhopal, making them the prime suspects in a series of thefts that had been plaguing the city.

The police had registered two major burglary cases in recent months, with the first complaint filed on April 18, 2025, by Ram Kishore Pushpak, a resident of Gopal Nagar, Piplani. The complaint led to the registration of a case under sections 305(A) and 331(4) of the BNS, related to the theft of gold and silver jewellery from a locked house. The second case was filed on May 26, 2025, by Priyanka Sharma, a resident of Ayodhya Bypass, Bhopal, who reported the theft of a gold chain, earrings, rings, and silver anklets from her home. The police registered Crime No. 359/25 under the same sections of BNS, marking it as another burglary orchestrated by the duo.

On June 12, 2025, acting on a tip-off, Piplani Police managed to arrest Ilyas Khan, a resident of Garam Gaddha, Bajariya Bhopal, near Bhopal Railway Station after they had strategically cordoned off the area. During his interrogation, Ilyas confessed to multiple burglaries, including breaking into a house in Gopal Nagar, Piplani, around two months ago, and another burglary in Balaji Nagar, Piplani, about 20–25 days ago. He revealed that he and Asif Khan had stolen gold and silver jewellery from locked cupboards in both incidents, primarily from Godrej cupboards, and also admitted to committing similar crimes in the Sukhisewania police station area.

In a significant development, the police recovered stolen jewellery worth approximately Rs 6,00,000 from locations in Garam Gaddha, Bajariya, and Adarsh Nagar, based on the information provided by Ilyas Khan. The jewellery recovered includes gold chains, earrings, rings, and silver anklets. The authorities are now seeking remand for deeper interrogation, with further recoveries expected in the coming days.

Police believe that Ilyas Khan and his accomplice Asif Khan are linked to several other burglaries across various police station jurisdictions, and they are working on expanding the scope of the investigation. The law enforcement agencies are optimistic that more stolen items will be recovered, and the accused will provide additional leads that could help solve multiple open cases in the city.

Authorities have assured the public that they are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in such activities, ensuring the safety and security of residents. The police have also urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to prevent further crimes and contribute to maintaining law and order in the area.
