A photography contest ‘The World Is a Play Ground’ would be organized for the amateur photographers of the State. The selection of the contest is being organized by Alliance Francaise de Bhopal and Indore. The selected photographs would be put up at the Art Gallery of Alliance Francaise de Bhopal on December 7.
While talking to The Pioneer, the Director of Alliance Francaise de Bhopal Julien Dal Bosco informed that the goal is to showcase games in their different social and cultural functions such as board games, video games, outdoor games, children’s games, sporting events, sports competition and others.
This contest will also be an opportunity to learn about the evolution of the playful customs in the world. Notably, participation to this photo competition is exclusively through Alliance Française and concerns only amateur photographers. The deadline for the registration is November 22 and the applications will have to be sent to Alliance Française de Bhopal (bhopal@afindia.org). Moreover, each participant will have to send 2 entries for this competition.
After the exhibition, a jury in Bhopal will select the best photographer and will then send his 2 photos to the Foundation Alliance Française in Paris. The winner selected by this Jury of the Foundation in Paris will be awarded travel and expenses for a one-week stay in Paris. He or she will also be entitled to a personal exhibition of their work in the French capital.
Moreover, this contest has taken place worldwide in Alliances Françaises from every continent which is being organized by the headquarters of Alliances Françaises in Paris (Foundation Alliance Française) since 2010. Bosco further said, “This contest aims at showing the cultural diversity of the different countries where Alliances Française are located and to give a chance to amateur photographers to gain more visibility.” He also informed that last year 167 Alliances françaises of 74 countries from 5 continents participated in the contest. The Indian photographer Swarat Gosh selected by Alliance Française Hyderabad ended up second position of the contest last year. So this is the time for the amateur photographers to explore their talent and bring out their best through this contest, he added.
