T Dharma Rao, senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and Industries Commissioner who died in an accident on Thursday, will be remembered as a competent officer and an amiable man always ready to help his colleagues, juniors and common public.
Rao had been earlier publicly appreciated by Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and Additional Chief Secretary PK Das for his efforts in promoting industry in the state. He was especially appreciated for the efforts he had put in organizing the Investors Meet in Indore.
Rao was also popular among his colleagues and especially his juniors for his considerate attitude. Officials in the industries department recalled that he never displayed arrogance of seniority before them. He was accessible even to small businessmen and gave his full attention to their problems.
The owner of laguna Industries Sharad Sharma recalled that he had made an appeal to the Commissioner against a decision of the Joint-Director in a case affecting his industries. “Dharma Rao not only admitted the matter, but he also changed the earlier decision and it is due to his decision that I am running the company otherwise some officers had prepared their minds to snatch my company,” he said.
