To mark the World Tobacco Day in Bhopal, there was a fierce protest against film stars Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan and Shahrukh Khan on Tuesday. The doctor, along with cancer victims, blackened the faces of posters on hoardings of the three film stars in the Piplani area.
Not only this, the effigies of all three were also burnt. Angered by these stars advertising tobacco products, the doctor took out his anger on them along with cancer victims.
Dr Prashant Tripathi, who is leading the protest, said that about 72 percent of the population in the country is youth. In the last two years, about 69000 people have died of oral cancer in Madhya Pradesh. About 2.25 lakh people are undergoing treatment for oral cancer. Oral cancer is mainly caused by eating betel nut and gutkha.
Responsible stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan and Shah Rukh Khan advertise dangerous things like gutkha. Young people follow him whatever these stars do, the youth also try to be like that. Due to this, the trend of people consuming gutkha has increased. Right now we have blackened their faces in the posters of hoarding and if they would meet in person they would blackened their face.
Prashant told that there are substances in tobacco, due to which there is a dreadful and deadly disease like cancer. India has the highest number of deaths in the world. According to WHO, most of the deaths in Madhya Pradesh are due to cancer in the whole of India. Within a radius of about 200 meters from Bhopal, 22 out of every 100 people are consuming gutkha.
During this demonstration, those famous personalities of the Hindi cinema world were also opposed, whom the people of this country consider their ideal as their hero. The same people become a part of misleading propaganda about the use of this deadly product just for commercial gain. Efforts are being made to promote their use.
Due to dry environment of Madhya Pradesh, especially Bhopal, the outbreak of oral cancer is spreading more. Gutkha and betel nut are more prevalent in these areas. Poor quality betel nut and gutkha contain deadly ingredients. Because of this it is spreading the most in Madhya Pradesh.
