Bhopal District Advisory Committee inspected 246 sonography centres, filed court cases against 2 sonography centres and 2 guilty establishments were sealed during year 2015-16.

A show-cause notice will be sent to Jabalpur committee to explain for inspection of only 40 centres and unsatisfactory action. This was decided at a meeting of State Advisory Committee of PC&PNDT Act chaired by Dr Rashmi Dwivedi here on Wednesday.

The meeting was informed that Form 'F' will be made online to avoid complexities. Its software is being developed.

This will save time and remove complexities in filling the form and increase transparency. The committee decided to divide entire process in 2 categories - immediate and necessary. It has been decided to give one day's time to complete formalities for necessary category.

As per the Act, sonography can be conducted by only those doctors who are trained in recognised institutions or have one year's experience. Advisory committee asked State Medical Council to prepare a check-list of recognised institutions so that students are not misled. The committee also decided to completely ban sonography of foetus at doctors' homes.

All districts have been directed to inspect sonography centres every 3 months, prepare calendar, set targets and ensure attendance of 60 trained members of minimum 6 district advisory committees in inspection squads. The committee also discussed regarding informers of sex determination tests. Award will not be given an informer who is an accused or convicted by a court in any case.

Additional Secretary law Amitabh Mishra, State Nodal Officer PC&PNDT Dr Vandana Sharma, State Advisor Swati Singh, officers of various departments and representatives of voluntary organisations attended the meeting.
