After the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday termed their strike as illegal, the patwaris in the evening called off the indefinite strike unconditionally. They had a meeting with Finance Minister Jayant Malaiya and Revenue Minister Rampal Singh.
For past couple of days, the patwaris were under an ultimatum from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to withdraw their agitation. "Their demands would not be met in any condition, as they have remained off the work when farmers are facing problems," he had said in Shahdol on Tuesday.
It was stated that due to the strike, survey and relief distribution to drought-affected farmers was hampered badly. While talking to media persons after meeting a delegation of patwaris, Malaiya said that the agitating patwaris withdrew their agitation over pay unconditionally.(Details P-3)
