Patients seek relief from waiting time for test

Published on:

Hundreds of patients seeking health relief at the JAH Group of Hospitals face testing times as they are getting repeated deferrals for medical investigations, especially ultrasound and ultrasonic testing. Sonu Batham of Upper Gwalior had come to the hospital on Tuesday with complains of stomach pain.

The doctor at the OPD asked him to get the ultrasound, but when the patient reached the radiology department for getting the test done he was asked to come after 9 days.

According to sources there have been cases where the patients had to wait for months together to get the test done. In most cases the department keeps on postponing and there is a huge waiting list.

When queried, Dr Akshara Gupta, the Head of the Radiology Department said that there is normally a waiting of one week in the hospital due to the heavy rush of patients.

She added that more than 300 patients come for ultrasound every day, out of which around 200 to 220 tests are done. Due to the holidays, the OPD too at the JAH had been functioning for only two hours and even then the senior doctors were late in arriving which resulted in long queues.

The ENT, Dental, Pediatric, Cardiology and the Anesthesia departments were functioning without any senior doctors. Talking to the media persons, Dr JS Sikarwar, the Superintend of the hospital group said that the list of the absentee doctors has been sent to the Divisional Commissioner for appropriate action.
