Passengers, cops indifferent towards security measures?

Published on:

Security at railway stations has always remained a matter of concern due to different reasons. Officials concerned provide reasons but never work to find a way out to solve the issue endangering the lives of the passengers.

At the Bhopal railway station, security lapses could be witnessed clearly which might lead to incident of dangerous nature. The DFMD (Door Frame Metal Detector) and ‘luggage Scanner’ are installed, but passengers are not interested in undergoing these security checks to save time. The machines installed at platform number one of Bhopal railway station has been installed besides deputing police

personnel but none of the

cops seem interested in instructing the passengers to pass through the machine at the time of entry or exit.

Condition of platform number 6 is also same at DFMD is installed but there is no arrangement which could compel the passengers to pass through these security gates. Earlier also several measures have been done but the methods have not proved effective.

The SHO of Railway protection Force (RPF) PK Updhyay told ‘The Pioneer’ that the people should understand their responsibility but the to lack of civic sense creates problems as no one is ready to pass through DFMD.

The position of the luggage scanner has been wrongly decided which would be change soon as discussion with the senior officers is under process. He further claimed that shortage of staff is another problem the department is facing.

Platform number 1 at the main entrance has two pillars which divides the gate into three parts and in one of the parts the DFMD has been installed but passengers chose to use the remaining two gates for entry and exit. Similarly, on platform number 6 has no gate for entry and exit which makes the platform vulnerable for all kinds of threat.

The on duty constable on the condition  of anonymity told that the machine has been installed but none of the

passengers are interested in going through the process of luggage checking by ‘luggage  Scanner’ which was only installed on the visit of General Manager few days ago.
