The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) has sought private sector participation in conceptualisation, designing and operation of Heritage walk for various tourist destinations in Madhya Pradesh.

On May 3, the Board invited Expression of Interest (EOI) for the purpose for Tourist Destinations of Madhya Pradesh. Deepika Roy Choudhury, General Manager (Publicity & Creatives), Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board told The Pioneer that the last date for receiving the EOI was May 19 and the process has been completed.

She informed that in a couple of days the sealed envelopes would be opened and further process would be completed.

With this, Tourism Board wishes to create awareness among citizens and tourists about key historic areas and help them relate to the historic parts of a city in a more personal and intimate manner, official sources said.

The Board is also seeking to draw the tourists into areas of rich cultural and architectural Heritage which are not yet on the tourist itinerary complete.

The Boards believes that increased number of visitors results in heightened sensitivity of the local populace towards the historic value of settlements and encourages local communities to conserve and preserve their own heritage and inculcate a sense of pride and appreciation among them.

This project of dedicated Heritage walk in Madhya Pradesh shall target the stories and anecdotes around heritage monuments (including lesser known monument/places) /markets/communities etc of the city, famous cuisines, textiles & crafts, local culture, dance, poetries etc, officials informed.

Madhya Pradesh had gained several ranks to reach the third position leaving Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra at the succeeding fourth, fifth and sixth positions.
