Chaturvedi informed that State Child Rights Protection Commission is active to ensure children’s rights.
The issues discussed on the occasion included institution of a fund for giving compensation to children, JJ Act, effective role of the commission in preventing child marriages etc. Usha Chaturvedi said that work becomes difficult in cases in which respondent is resident of any other state where State Child Rights Protection Commission does not exist. In such cases, intervention and cooperation of National Child Rights Protection Commission is needed.
Naik assured full cooperation in such cases. She also suggested that cooperation can be sought from district-level Child Welfare Committees which exist in all states. Member Vibhanshu Joshi informed that Madhya Pradesh is pioneer in publicising Prevention of Children from Sexual Exploitation Act-2012. As compared to other states, advertisements to this effect were released by Madhya Pradesh first of all. He informed that soon a workshop will be held with the cooperation of police and other departments by the State Government for publicising this Act.
