Reacting over the constitution of a 12-member committee for the conservation of tigers and other wild animals by the State Government, Right To Information (RTI) activist Ajay Dubey alleged that it is an attempt to confuse the people.

Dubey in a statement here on Saturday said, “The State Government perturbed with the continuous deaths of tigers  in the State constituted an twelve-member committee chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan only a couple of days back. History is that such committees have been constituted on earlier occasions also, that were found working only on papers. Because the intents of Madhya Pradesh Government are to provide protection to the highly influential mafia engage in mining, forest and tourism instead of protecting tigers, leopards and other rare wild creatures.”

Dubey citing example of overlooking of PK Sen Committee by the State Government expressed fear that the recently constituted committee is mere a eyewash and that it expose that how serious is the State Government over protection of tigers in the state. He said that in between 2005 to 2009 forty tigers were killed in Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR) of the state in which PK Sen Committee submitted its report after thorough enquiry. On the basis of this enquiry report National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) is continuously asking the state government to order Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) but the State Government has not taken any action over it.

He said that the State Government also conducted the enquiry of the PTR through JJ Dutta Committee that was also having wildlife expert HS Pawar as its member but did not followed the recommendations of this committee. The State Government also overlooks NTCA instructions for the conservation of tigers, he added.  The wildlife activist alleged that by going through the working of the State Government it becomes clear that the State Government works only for protection of criminal and corrupt people and that is why we demand CBI enquiry of the tigers deaths in the State and if our demand is not met than we would knock court doors.
