A 91-year old lady gynaecologist, Dr Bhakti Yadam, from Indore has been nominated among 75 dignitaries across the country for the coveted Padma Shri award this year.
Born on April 3, 1996 in Mahidpur, Ujjain district, Dr Bhakti in her professional medical career spanning over six decades has performed free of cost deliveries of thousands of expectant mothers.
In her chequered medical profession, she has become an inspiration for a large number of both junior and senior doctors, medical professionals who seek advice from her.
Dr Bhakti, who runs her clinic, Vaatsaly Nursing Home, from her home in Pardeshipura locality of the city, has been tirelessly working since 1948 and has vowed to serve till death. What is most striking about her service is that she does not even charge a rupee for delivery.
Dr Bhakti Yadav is credited to be the first lady MBBS gynaecologist from Indore and central India.
