Hitting hard at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government, Congress leader and former TTTI chairman Mahendra Singh Chouhan has alleged that despite spending more than Rs10,000 crore to tackle malnutrition, more than 60 per cent children in the State are malnourished.

“BJP spokesman and legislator Vishwas Sarang should explain why malnutrition still persists in the State despite such a huge amount spent to end it. Sarang should explain who is benefiting from this public money,” he said during third day of parivartan yatra.

Chouhan laid a wreath on statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar at Bijli Nagar locality here. Addressing the public on this matter, he said that infants and young children are being fed with inferior quality murmure which even animals would not eat. In last 32 months more than 82,000 children could not celebrate their first birthday, he added.

He further said, “Vishwas Sarang is completely distraught by extensive public support to the parivartan yatra. Due to this, his followers have put posters congratulating Sarang for false achievements over the posters of this yatra.

During the yatra, several Congress workers put on masks of State Health Minister Narottam Mishra and sat under the mock prison. They also distributed pamphlets describing the alleged misdeeds committed by the minister.

The yatra passed through Panjabi Bagh, Shanshah gardens, Durga Nagar basti, Nawab Colony, Dashmesh Nagar, Ektapuri, Sundar Nagar, Pant Nagar, Swadesh Nagarn and Samrat Colony. It was concluded at Ashoka Garden later in the day.

Several party leaders were present during the yatra including Sajid Ansari, Rafeeq Khan, Rajendra Singh Yadav and others.
