Organic Farmers Market ‘Anant Mandi’ was organized on Sunday at Gandhi Bhavan.

The day long event  comprised of different events. There was a Mandi of organic food products (for sale), being put up by various organic farmers and kitchen gardeners in and around Bhopal.

Anant Mandi is organised twice a month to promote lifestyle and sustainable agriculture. This initiative is taken by youth groups called Anant and Go-Rurban and Gandhi Bhavan has been going on for the last a year.

Anant, aims to promote the practice of organic farming and kitchen gardening in urban settings and to enhance the relationship of organic farmer producers and consumers.

It is a platform being created for the common urban crowd to find healthy and sustainable alternatives for food, as against the unhealthy and inorganic food materials that they consume regularly.

Stalls of organic vegetables, cereals, pulses, dairy products, herbal medicines and chemical-free daily use products were  set up in Anant Mandi.

Every time in Anant Mandi, many farmers from Bhopal and nearby districts like Hoshangabad, Vidisha, Itarsi sell their organic crops and by participating in such programmes they get the impetus to do organic farming.
